Respiratory Patients
Respiratory patients are reminded to wash their hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds prior to touching their devices, patients should also ensure they clean their masks and tubing for CPAP and Bi-Level devices on a daily basis. This should be done with soap and water, ensuring that all soap residue is removed from the mask and tube prior to use. Attach the tubing (do not connect mask) to the device and allow the machine to run and dry the tubing. Disinfect the surface of your device daily.
Maternity Customers
Our mums using our Medela breast pumps and those renting the hospital grade Medela Symphony pump are also reminded to wash their hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds prior to feeding or expressing breastmilk. Note that that the following parts should be sterilised before each use of Medela pumps: breast shield, breast shield connector, valves & membranes. Follow manufacturers advice for sterilising these parts. Disinfect your pump with wipes before and after each use.
The collection kit for the hospital grade Symphony kit are all pre-sterilised and ready for use. During an expression session, breast milk is suctioned from the breast to the bottle meaning that no milk enters the pump at any time ensuring opimum hygiene.
