The Lactina has an Autocycle pump action. Autocycle simulates baby’s suck-release-relax nursing action. Like all Medela pumps, the Lactina's built-in vacuum release protects you against excessive or prolonged suction. This breastpump is absolutely hygienic as there is no contact between breastmilk and the pumping system. A pump/collection kit must be purchased for use with the Lactina, for hygiene reasons. Lactina breastpumps can be used for single or double pumping with these accessory kits. Simultaneously double pumping reduces pumping time and promotes an increase in milk production. Double pumping can help increase prolactin, the milk-producing hormone. Single pump kit for the Lactina breastpump: This kit consists of a piston, bottle, valve, breastshield and tubing which connect on to the pump. These items (excluding tubing) can be sterilised, boiled and are dishwasher safe. As a unique feature the personal pump kit can also be used as a manual breast pump when the mother is finished using the Lactina. Double pump kit for the Lactina breastpump: The double kit allows milk to be expressed from both breasts at the same time. This kit contains two of each of the items mentioned in the single pump kit description and can be used as a manual breast pump when the mother is finished using the Lactina. Please note: A minimum hire charge (equivalent to one month’s rental charge) is applicable. At the end of the initial hire period the hirer must return the pump. Otherwise, hire charges will be processed automatically, monthly in arrears (charged to the hirer’s credit card).
